Restoration Work on Original Case Covers

Restoration can encompass a wide variety of actions such as:
  • Removing moire patterns from scans
  • Cleaning up washed out color from old scans
  • Tracing out entire sections into vector shapes for better print quality
  • Retracing all outlines and re-adding the blacks and redoing the highlights for proper constrast
  • Removing artifacts from the scan (little hairs, little spots etc.)
  • Creating a cover from scratch
  • Matching, removing or otherwise working with text
1.) Removing moire, artifacts and distortion patterns from scans and redoing a cover.

2.) Cleaning up washed out color from old scans (Super Saga 2)

3.) Tracing shapes into vector

I love Tron Bonne so I spent a lot of time on the cover and really like how it turned out.  If you would like a copy it's for sale. :-)

4.) Retracing outlines.... (BS Excitebike - rare release)

3.) Adding in Blacks and Highlights....
On Yoshi's Story we needed to make the N64 case cohesive with the others by making it vertical and then darken the darks, pop the highlights and make it stand out.

 Creating a Cover from Scratch
The tiny little graphic is what I started with.  Instead of night I went with daytime thanks to a suggestion, and traced out the font.

Finally, Working with text....A lot of the widely available covers contain typos on the back.  We were contacted about Megaman X, MegamanX2, and Megaman X3 - all with typos and sometimes the wrong text.  It helps to be able to match text really well.  Here is one change.

And finally at times there just needs to be a re-imagining of a case, and even its logo.  One of my favorite projects was Koudelka. If you are interested in buying the finished product it is on our web site at gamecaseworld.com
The original cover has a orange hard to read title on Koudelka
We made Koudelka more pronounced by desaturating the color in the right hand figure.

Thank you for looking.
